Resuscitation Services at IRH

 
There is one full time Resuscitation Officer / Manager of Resuscitation Services at IRH - Tony Miller and a part time Resuscitation Coordinator / Secretary - Laura McKechnie. The Resuscitation Service at IRH provides access to courses including basic life support (BLS), Immediate Life Support (ILS), Paediatric basic life support (PBLS), basic life support in pregnancy, newborn life support, baby first aid for parents, management of choking, anaphylaxis training, defibrillation / AED training, Advanced Life Support (ALS)
 
Other courses supported by the service include the Generic Instructor Course (GIC), Ill Medical Patients Acute Care and Treatment (IMPACT), Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS), Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS), European Paediatric Life Support (EPLS), Scottish Neonatal Resuscitation Course (SNRC), Scottish Core Obstetric Training In Emergencies (SCOTTIE) and Acute Life-threatening Events Recognition and Treatment (ALERT)
 
Other services provided include audit of training, audit of medical emergency / cardiac arrest. Expert advice on equipment selection and use. Clinical expertise in emergency and resuscitation care. Policy and protocol development and deployment. Advisory service to other agencies with regards to resuscitation issues.

The Resuscitation service at IRH was established in 2002 and since then has grown and developed greatly in response to the need for high quality training and clinical care at emergencies
